Release Candidate Posted for Windows Server 2003 R2
Microsoft first introduced the candidates for Windows Server 2003 R2 for downloading Tuesday.

General availability scheduled for the end of this year, R2 is an updated version of Windows Server 2003 SP1 and to improve branch office servers for the programme, in identity and access management and storage management. The product also collected a lot of the characteristics of that package, Microsoft released after the initial Windows Server 2003 shipped.

There will be three versions: Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition and data center. All three will be in the 32 and x64 editions.

Different Service Pack, R2 version will not be a free update, so that customers can have their own licenses for Windows Server 2003. Client Software Assurance contract will be to upgrade to R2 without additional charges.
