
IBM Targets NCR Teradata with Migration Program

IBM Corporation Wednesday launched a migration program for users of NCR Corporation Teradata customers.
Official statistics, IBM added that the NCR Corp. The Teradatas database, it db2now! Entrant Scheme, including several immigration plans to compete with each other databases.
IBMs bid for existing Teradata customers focused on DB2 multi-platform flexibility. DB2 running on the 22 platforms, including Windows NT and Windows 2000. Teradatas customers run the high-end database is NCRs own proprietary hardware and operating systems. However, for NCR Teradata is not port to Windows NT and Windows 2000, in the past few years.
Analyst Mike Schiff and current analysis, IBMs move is to see that in its recent acquisition of the Informix database technology and Informix customer base.
"Every person and their grandfather, formally or informally, Informix has successfully completed the migration plan," Schiff said. "Even better, at least [IBMs appearance, they have launched an offensive, they appear to be defensive."
